UNDATED (WHDH) --A home break-in was blocked in Florida. The pair of would-be thieves made friends with the family dog, but they couldn't make a dent in the hurricane proof glass.

Police say the two suspects acted casually enough, first knocking on the front door, and when no one answered, they sauntered around the back where one of them made friends with the family dog.

“I guess to keep it from barking, he just became friends with it. Pet the dog, and scratched him on the belly,” an officer said.

One suspect served at the lookout, the other checked out the doors, following behind.

It was a little too close for comfort for homeowner David Rosenbon, who moved there from France 10 years ago and is concerned about crime.

Not realizing he was being caught on tape, the suspect went on to peer in the back French doors.

Then, he picked up a brick from the garden and tried to smash the glass. It’s unbreakable hurricane glass. The suspect couldn’t get into the home.

“With the advances in technology, more and more people are getting surveillance videos,” said an officer.

The cameras caught both suspects; police say one of them was apparently acting as a lookout. As for the one who seems to like dogs, police are hoping they get a tip soon.
