Homeless man to keep $50K found in park

BASTROP, Texas (WHDH) -- A homeless Texas man will get to keep more than $50,000 he found in a park.

After finding the bag of money in January, he took it to the bank and tried to exchange it for dry currency.

The bank called police, but after a six month investigation police could not tie the money to any drugs.

The city council has now decided that man should get to keep it.

"I think, you know, if you're out enjoying the park it's a pretty great find," one woman said.

The bag contained 70 $100 bills as well as 40 gold coins from South Africa.
