FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida mother is furious after her son was humiliated by a teacher at school.

Ja'Von Mills, like most six graders, likes to talk in class. "I know I did stuff wrong because I know I talk a lot but..." said Mills.

The punishment he received for talking in school has his mom very upset. "He's a boy in a box. Education gone wrong," said Latoya London.

Ja'Von's math teacher built a box around his desk to stop him from being disruptive in class, isolating him from the rest of the classroom. "I was like, 'How I'm I suppose to see the board?' and she said, 'Oh, you don't have to look at the board, you just have to listen and read,'" said Mills.

Mount Bethel Christian Academy officials released a statement which read: "Mount Bethel Christian Academy does not condone any classroom management strategy that would prevent a student from reaching his/her maximum potential. We believe every student enrolled has the right to a quality Christian education. We will continue to investigate this issue and take the necessary steps for correction."

London said, after 30 days, the punishment went too far, and she withdrew Ja'Von from the school. "So not only is she embarrassing him, it's affecting him emotionally because how can my son learn if he's being picked on by his peers for being in a box?" said London.

London withdrew both of her children from the school and is demanding her money back.

School officials are investigating.
