New photo released in George Zimmerman trial

UNDATED (NBC) -- A bloodied and beaten George Zimmerman is shown in a new picture taken the night he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman’s defense team released the picture, taken by police on February 26th.

It shows Zimmerman with a bloody and swollen nose, and other injuries to his face.

The picture had previously been released as a black and white photocopy, but the high-resolution version was provided to defense attorneys in late October.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in Martin's death, a shooting he claims was self-defense.
