ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities are describing the fatal shooting of a Georgia woman after her vehicle bumped into a man's motorized wheelchair at a gas station as a random encounter.

Macon police said 65-year-old Linda Hunnicutt died after she was shot once in the chest Tuesday by the motorized wheelchair's operator, 73-year-old Frank Louis Reeves.

Reeves was apprehended in the gas station parking lot and is being held on a murder charge at the Bibb County Jail. Police didn't know whether he has an attorney.

Police said Hunnicutt had driven onto the gas pump bay shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday when her Buick Lucerne made contact with the motorized wheelchair. Authorities say the woman stepped out of her car, and the suspect pulled a 38-caliber handgun and shot her in the chest.
