Shooting suspect was hospitalized, restrained
DENVER (AP) -- A newly released court document says Colorado theater shooting suspect James Holmes was taken from jail to the psychiatric ward of a hospital in November because he was considered a danger to himself.
The defense motion made public Friday says James Holmes was kept at Denver Health Medical Center for several days and was frequently held in restraints.
The motion says Holmes was taken to the hospital Nov. 15 because he was "in immediate need of a psychiatric evaluation."
The motion says this was separate from an earlier incident in which Holmes was hospitalized for "potential self-inflicted head injuries in his cell."
In their motion, Holmes' lawyers asked the judge to order sheriff's investigators to preserve surveillance video of the Nov. 15 incident at the hospital.
