Naked man hijacks cars and creates 5-car pileup in AZ
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The dramatic ending to a bizarre chain of events: A completely nude man surrendered to police after a wild ride.
"It was kind of just one of those really creepy things you never want to see in your entire life,” said witness Chris Benson.
A three car crash on Hayden and Via de Ventura.
A man got out of his car and got buck naked.
"We saw some guy walking, actually started running around 100-percent naked," said Benson.
Then he approached a woman in a Prius.
"He jumped on some lady's car and was trying to get into her ride and kinda like holding on like this," said Benson.
"He carjacked a Toyota Prius. He pulled the female driver out of the car," said Sgt. Mark Clark of Scottsdale Police.
Once inside the car, he drove down Shea Boulevard ended up driving the wrong direction, rolled the Prius, and caused a 5-car pileup at 90th street.
"The behavior that has been relayed to us by witnesses does indicate some sort of drug or mental state that caused him to behave so erratically," said Sgt. Clark.
The suspect was taken to the hospital, along with several other people involved in the crash, including a woman nearly full term in her pregnancy who was driving a white car.
"I think it's crazy that one person can do all this and it kind of makes me almost scared about what can actually happen and makes we definitely want to drive a little more safer," said Benson.
At least four people were hurt, and the pregnant woman had two broken legs.
