UNDATED (NBC) -- A dog was rescued from the top of a Colorado fourteener Monday.

For the past few days Colorado's hiking community has been working together to help a dog that appeared to have been abandoned on top of Mt. Bierstadt.

After several attempts and a discussion on 14ers.com about how to help the German Shepherd she was rescued Monday.

A photo posted on the social website for hiking enthusiasts shows the dog safely in the back of her rescuer's SUV with a bowl of food and water.

A group of hikers were able to carry the dog to lower elevation.

According to posts on the site the dog's paws appeared to have been injured.

Monday night she was with a vet and said to be in good spirits.
