Oregon family hailed as heroes after saving kids
GASTON, Ore. (WHDH) -- A family in Oregon are hailed as heroes after they save eight kids from drowning in a lake.
The family said they noticed things had suddenly become quiet and realized a group of children playing in the water had gone under.
Leaping into action, the family bolted for the water, grabbing for the submerged children.
One by one, the family brought eight kids to shore.
"You couldn't see any of the other kids in the water, so I was just kind of reaching down trying to grab whatever you could,” said Eric Maclean who helped save the children.
"I went out and we just sort of formed a chain," said a woman who also helped.
None of the children were wearing life jackets.
Two kids were not breathing when they were pulled from the water, but were revived.
They were all taken to the hospital and are doing well.
