MINNEAPOLIS (NBC) -- Extreme cold weather has postponed outdoor events and canceled others, but not everyone is racing indoors to beat the cold.

The extreme cold has forced cross country skiing races to be postponed at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis on Monday.

The Oval Ice Rink in Roseville closed due to the extreme temps, too.

"We're offering free got cocoa," chucked Fred Seymour with the Hyland Ski Are in Bloomington.

Skiers and snowboarders still hit the hills at Hyland despite dangerous wind chills.

"We kept a close eye on everyone," said Seymour. "If we see signs of frostbite we will tell them to come inside."
