The world watches as America decides

LONDON (NBC) -- The world is paying close attention to America tonight.

There is enormous interest in United States politics overseas and many feel that a lot is on the line.

The U.S. election is a top story today outside the US as well. There has been extensive extremely thorough coverage in newspapers, websites.

There has been coverage all over television with foreign correspondents not even stationed not just say in Washington or Florida but all over the U.S.

In fact, virtually every foreign news agency has on its website a prominent section devoted to the US election.

Analysts say part of the reason for all of this global attention is that so many people in so many countries are looking for a catalyst for change in their own nations coming from a strong decision in America.

Now all over the world tonight there will be watch parties, people taping live coverage of results even though it will be the middle of the night.
