Rough start to fiscal cliff negotiations

UNDATED (NBC) -- Congress returns to work next week to deal with negotiations on a budget deal to stave off the looming "fiscal cliff."
A combination of automatic tax increases and across-the-board spending cuts that will go into effect at the first of the year if Congress can't agree on a plan to address the nation's financial problems.
Weighing in are an increasing number of lobbyists, and advocacy groups who are trying to influence any changes to tax breaks, and what government programs will receive less funding.
