Menino urges Congress to 'give it to us straight'
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Mayor Menino sent a letter to lawmakers from his hospital bed regarding their work on the Fiscal Cliff.
The mayor wrote:
"We've had enough ‘Democrat’ and ‘Republican’ speak for a while. The fiscal cliff is bad for our country, and so is any remedy that guts funding for discovery, for healthcare training, and for healing. I write to urge you and all of your counterparts to give it to us straight."
The mayor apologized for his blunt tone, but said he wants to protect Boston’s vital industries like the healthcare system that has treated him so well.
