Patrick to speak at Democratic convention in NC

BOSTON (AP) -- Gov. Deval Patrick will be a speaker at next month's Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Patrick, in a statement, described November's presidential election as "truly the election of a lifetime." He says he's looking forward to participating in the Democratic National Convention "because more than anything else, what is at stake right now is the American Dream."

The convention will be held Sept. 3-6. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are seeking re-election.
