Hassan spent most in NH primary bid for gov

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Less than a week to Tuesday's primary, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan has spent about $974,000 on her bid to be New Hampshire's next governor, the most among the candidates.

Hassan said she had raised $1 million with about $78,000 coming in since Aug. 23. She reported about $34,000 on hand.

Republican Ovide Lamontagne reported raising the most money -- over $1.2 million. He spent about $724,000, leaving him with $499,000 on hand.

Republican primary rival Kevin Smith reported raising $339,000 and spending nearly $294,000, leaving him with $45,000 on hand.

Hassan's main primary rival, Jackie Cilley, reported raising over $81,000 since Aug. 23 -- including a $50,000 loan she made to the campaign. She said she spent nearly $89,000 and had $45,000 on hand. She's raised $350,000 in all.
