BOSTON (WHDH) -- Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick detailed his state budget proposal on Wednesday, which would raise spending 7 percent.
The proposal includes taxes on soda and candy, which are currently exempt.
Consumers would also have to pay a deposit fee on bottled water. Gasoline and cigarette taxes would also go up.
Patrick said the money is needed for the state’s education and transportation systems.
