Biography

Was a three-sport star in baseball, basketball and football at Jefferson Davis High School in Houston...batted .563 as a senior with 29 stolen bases...Carl played defense his first two years at Jefferson Davis, but when the starting quarterback was injured at the start of his junior season, Carl moved to QB and the Panthers scored 50 points in his first game...he also averaged 25.0 points per game in basketball at Davis and batted .563 with 29 stolen bases as a senior...C.C. was offered a football scholarship to the University of Nebraska to be an option quarterback and a basketball scholarship to UCLA to be a point guard...His brother, Cory, was a wide receiver at Sam Houston State in 2004-05...his uncle, Jack Crawford, played in the minors for the Angels...Grew up just minutes from the future site of Houston's Minute Maid Park in what is known as the Fifth Ward neighborhood...Was a Little League teammate of Astros center fielder Michael Bourn.
