Matt Brown allowed to race in NYC Marathon
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Matt Brown, the former Norwood High School hockey player that was paralyzed in 2010, was denied entry into the New York City Marathon, but now the New York Road Runners Club says Brown is allowed to participate in the race.
Marathon officials originally said since Brown has to be pushed he was not allowed to race, but Brown fought back.
The New York Road Runners Club issued a statement Thursday saying, “We work very hard to accommodate participants overcoming great odds to compete in the ING New York City Marathon, and NYRR is allowing Mr. Carr and Matt Brown in the race this year given our special efforts to recognize and show solidarity with Boston. We are working on details on how best to accommodate them and ensure the safest and best race for all of the more than 45,000 participants.”
