Brady checked out medically, might play in preseason game
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Two days ago Tom Brady went down clutching his left knee and it was time to panic. Thursday he was back with a brace at practice and it was time to exhale. Friday marks preseason game number two for the Patriots and it has people wondering whether Brady will be back to work.
“Coaches’ call. I mean, I know he’s going to be there when it counts, when the season matters the most, Tom’s going to be out there. I just don’t want us to rush him or anything like that. I think Tom will make the right decision and the coaches will too,” said Patriots running back, Stevan Ridley.
According to reports, Brady is all checked out medically, and should see some action against the Buccaneers in Friday’s game. But on both sidelines, everyone is relieved.
“I’m serious. It wasn’t like the talk of the locker room when we got back in. Tom was okay and we kinda went about our day,” said Patriots defensive back, Devin McCourty.
“I’m glad he’s okay. That’s one of the dangers, you keep warning them, but it’s hard, especially when they get competing with one another. So that’s part of the deal. We just have to try to prevent it if at all possible,” said Buccaneers head coach, Greg Schiano.
Both Ryan Mallett and Tim Tebow figure to get extensive playing time regardless, but for Brady, who’s trying to get in synch with his young receivers, sitting out may not be an option.
“He’s a tough guy. He didn’t make a big deal about it. We’re moving on, you know?” said Patriots offensive tackle, Nate Solder.
There was no official word whether Brady would play in Friday night’s game or not.
