Late Varela goal gives Portugal 3-2 win over Danes

LVIV, Ukraine (AP) -- Silvestre Varela scored late Wednesday to give Portugal a 3-2 win over Denmark at the European Championship.

Varela came on as a substitute in the 84th minute and scored in the 87th.

Pepe put Portugal ahead with a header in the 24th minute and Helder Postiga added another in the 37th. But Nicklas Bendtner scored twice as Denmark rallied back to 2-2.

Portugal lost to Germany in its first Group B game. The Danes previously beat the Netherlands 1-0.
