Dufner gives US point, ties Ryder Cup at 13
MEDINAH, Ill. (AP) -- Jason Dufner has pulled the Americans back into a tie at the Ryder Cup, with Europe needing only one more point to win.
Dufner's 2-up victory over Peter Hanson was only the third Sunday for the Americans, who were poised to win the cup after beginning the day with a four-point lead. But Europe won five of the first six matches and the teams are tied at 13. The remaining two matches are squared, with Steve Stricker facing Martin Kaymer and Tiger Woods playing Francesco Molinari in the anchor match.
Europe began the day trailing 10-6, the same deficit the Americans erased at Brookline in 1999 in the biggest comeback in Ryder Cup history.
