ORONO, Maine (AP) -- The head coach of the University of Maine hockey team says he's dismissed a player following several alcohol-related violations.

The Bangor Daily News reported Tuesday that sophomore right winger John Parker was dismissed in November.

Parker had three goals and four assists in 33 games as a freshman, but hadn't played this year after having foot surgery before the season began.

Whitehead said Parker will finish out this semester and then join a junior hockey team or transfer to another college.
