Famous 'Field of Dreams' baseball field sold

UNDATED (WHDH) -- Iowa's “Field of Dreams” - the movie site which became one of America’s best known baseball fields, was sold.

Investors group, Go the Distance Baseball, LLC, which includes Hall of Famer Wade Boggs, said it closed on the purchase last week after reaching a deal with owners.

The final selling price was $3.4 million plus interest.

It had been listed for $5.4 million two years ago.

Go the Distance plans to transform the landmark into a 24-field youth baseball and softball tournament complex called all-star ballpark heaven.

The first tournament games are scheduled to begin in 2014.
