BC named top team in college hockey poll

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Boston College hockey team is starting the new season exactly where it left off last season -- at the top.

The defending national champion Eagles were ranked first in U.S. College Hockey Online's preseason poll.

BC got 36 out of a possible 50 first place votes to beat out Michigan for the top spot.

Other New England teams in the Top 20 include New Hampshire at number seven and Boston University at number nine.

Harvard is ranked 19th and Vermont is 20th.
