Bruins, fans excited for Rangers series
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The puck drops on the Bruins-Rangers series Thursday night - for Game One at TD Garden.
The B's may be without three of its defensemen - Dennis Seidenberg, Andrew Ference, and Wade Redden are recovering from injuries. They are listed as "day-to-day."
As a result, the Bruins recalled Torey Kroog from Providence.
The Rangers and Bruins haven't met in the postseason since 1973.
Bruins’ forward Milan Lucic said he is looking forward to bringing the New York-Boston playoff rivalry back to the garden ice.
"It's another opportunity to be a part of a special kind of rivalry, you know I’ve been a part of Montreal-Boston, and this year Toronto-Boston, an original 6 and now another original 6 series but there's so much more when we're talking New York-Boston,” said Lucic.
The Rangers took two of the three regular season meetings against the bruins, including a split of the two games played in Boston.
Some fans got up early just to be at the Garden to cheer the players on as they arrive.
One woman is trying to replace a lucky charm as the team walks in.
"It's David Krejci. I had a Tyler Seguin one, but at the sixth game a guy spilled beer on it and ruined like 15 signatures, so I'm trying to get them back today,” said fan Maria Levitre.
"They're real people. They have families, they stop. They enjoy their fans. They're not a bunch of primadonnas,” said David Levitre.
Those fans were inside the Garden during the Game 7 win and they said there is nothing in their history that compares to that moment, and its excitement or energy - but they’re hoping for an easier win the next time around.
Game one is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Then game two - Sunday on 7NBC. 7NBC will get you ready for the game with a half-hour pregame special, beginning at 2:30pm. Face-off is set for 3pm.
