Stanley Cup matchup between B's and Blackhawks
BOSTON (WHDH)--The Bruins will face the top team in hockey this season, the Chicago Blackhawks. After sweeping the Penguins, the Bruins aren't quite the underdog they were a week ago.
If you stayed awake to see Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks set up Stanley Cup Finals with the Bruins, you weren't alone.
“I remember watching the game last night thinking it would be nice if Chicago won, just to get it started sooner rather than later and not have a whole week to sit out again and think about it,” Milan Lucic said.
Be careful what you wish for, the series starts Wednesday, June 12, and the B's have plenty to prepare for.
“They got some pretty skilled forwards and pretty good defensemen. They can all move the puck well. They’re pretty good skaters so we are going to have to play pretty good defensive styled hockey and go from there,” David Krejci said.
“They’re definitely a good team. They are an all around good team, fast defense compared to what we have seen and we’re going to be ready for it,” said Tyler Seguin.
Because of the lockout, the Bruins and Blackhawks didn't meet during the regular season, but that is no excuse not to get a jump on the team that finished with the best record in hockey.
“The last thing you want to do is try and feel your way through this final, because by the time you’re done doing that the damage will be done. You have to go out there and establish your game plan and just play with confidence,” coach Julien said.
That plan worked just fine against the Penguins. The B's fly out to Chicago with Game 1 starting Wednesday night.
