Andrew Shaw: the Marchand of the Blackhawks?
CHICAGO (WHDH) -- When it comes down to it, Andrew Shaw is the Brad Marchand of the Chicago Blackhawks. Or at least, he’s trying to find his inner Marchand.
“I’ve actually kind of played just like him. He’s a great player, he’s great at what he does and he’s had success for him in his career and it’s made him an elite player in this league,” said Shaw.
It wasn’t clear if Shaw was also calling himself an elite player in this league, but Marchy had a few encouraging words for him too.
“He’s definitely going to try and stir stuff up out there and we’re on the biggest stage in the world and everyone wants to play the game so I’m sure he’ll be out there doing things,” said Marchand.
But one thing is for sure, both Shaw and Marchand will be bringing their A-game between the whistles and after.
“It’s playoff hockey, it’s what I’ve watched since I was a kid growing up, it’s sitting on the couch with my family, my dad, my brothers and that just shows you there’s a different level in the playoffs,” said Shaw.
While we see a natural comparison between these two players, to Marchy’s good buddy Tyler Seguin, there’s only one rat.
“I don’t know if anyone can be Marchy, he’s his own person. But yeah if Shaw wants to be that guy I’m sure he’s going to let him know. I’m sure he’ll tell him that no one’s as good looking as Marchy,” said Seguin.
Both players will test their wits and skills against one another in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
