B's fan grows epic playoff beard
BOSTON (WHDH) -- We all know about playoffs beards, where a player doesn’t shave his face until hid team is eliminated from the playoffs or gets the Cup. Nowadays, even fans are partaking in it. But this fan cannot shave his beard, or else he’s fired.
Chris Kaine works at The Greatest Bar as a bartender. He has sacrificed a clean shaved face to support the Bruins going for the Cup.
“I had it going before the playoffs and then I was actually planning on shaving it with the first game that we beat Toronto and the owner of the bar…said that I’m not allowed to shave it if I want to keep working here,” said Kaine.
And the rest, as they say, is history. When the Bruins kept moving forward in the playoffs, Kaine’s beard kept growing longer.
“Clearly we’ve been doing well since. I don’t want to take all the responsibility for it. But I’ve been doing my part, they’ve been doing their part and it’s kind of taken off on its own,” said Kaine.
Kaine’s beard even has its own Facebook page, titled “Kaine’s Epic Playoff Beard.” It has 167 likes. But he said the best part is when the girls come in to rub it for luck.
“That’s my favorite part about it, definitely. It’s a good conversation piece. But no, you can tell, real hockey fans they respect the playoff beard,” said Kaine.
As an incentive, Kaine’s boss told him that he would pay hi, $100 for every Bruins win.
