BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Bruins are off to their first 2-0 start in more than a decade, and while it's impossible to predict what will come next in the shortened sprint of a season, it's hard not to be impressed.
“This is my sixth year here and it’s the first time we’ve ever started 2-0 since I’ve been here and it’s definitely a good feeling,” said Milan Lucic, Bruins forward.
“If you ask 29 other teams, they’re saying the same thing. They want to get off to a good start,” said Chris Kelly, Bruins forward.
The Bruins’ quick start comes from the foundation the team has built their success on.
“The focus is definitely on defense first and taking care of the house,” said Shawn Thornton, Bruins forward.
Their “house” is protected by a defense that's eight for eight on penalty kills.
“It’s nice when you can get those kills. It’s your job to go out there and try and kill that penalty off,” Kelly said.
And now, their success will be put to the test against the New York Rangers once again.
“We beat them in the first game, so you know they’re going to look for some revenge probably,” said Patrice Bergeron, Bruins forward.
“We’ve always had a tough time at MSG, so it’s definitely going to be a good battle tomorrow,” Lucic said.
The Bruins have had the league’s best road-winning percentage the last 5 seasons.
