WALTHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- Celtics captain Paul Pierce was just horsing around with six lucky fans at the team's practice facility in Waltham Friday.
You could say March Madness started a little early for this group. They had the once in a lifetime chance to play "The Truth" in a one-on-one game of horse.
It’s a basketball fan’s dream come true: playing horse with a Celtics legend. The winners were picked in a random drawing with the chance to beat the Celtics captain on the hardwood.
The game started out tight -- some shots were on the mark, others not so much.
And things even got a bit tricky. Even though it was just a pickup game, "The Truth's" competitive juices were still flowing. Pierce was dishing out advice to his competition the entire time.
"You got to aim for the square, knock it right off the middle right there,” said Pierce.
But in the end Pierce was the last one standing. Even though they lost, the lucky fans still couldn't believe it.
“It was just unreal,” one fan said.
“This is a very competitive field. I was hoping just to survive until the end. But I was able to come through,” Pierce said. “It's a chance to interact with people who follow us who've been fans of the Boston Celtics, get a chance to interact with them, have some fun with them on a different level. It's always fun.”
