WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) -- The Boston Celtics are moving on -- without Ray Allen -- as they try again for their 18th NBA championship.

Paul Pierce said Friday he was surprised that Allen decided to sign with the Miami Heat instead of keeping Boston's Big Three intact for another year. Kevin Garnett said he hasn't been in touch with the former shooting guard.

The Celtics signed Jason Terry in the offseason and Allen left for the Heat. But with Rajon Rondo emerging as one of the league's top guards, Boston still has a pretty big top three.

Terry says he's not the same player as Allen. But he thinks he can help the Celtics win.
