BOSTON (WHDH) -- Though Doc Rivers' team has jelled nicely without its point guard, Danny Ainge may elect to hit the "re-set" button, and deal off a few pieces before the Feb. 21 trade deadline anyway.

Imagine the Celtics without Paul Pierce.

“Whatever happens, happens; it's out of my control,” Paul Pierce said.

Or, life without Kevin Garnett.

“Management usually makes those decisions on what they feel is best for the organization,” Garnett said.

As the trade deadline approaches, what if the Celtics decide to move on without KG or Pierce?

“Danny made it very obvious since day one. He was going to do whatever is best for this organization,” Garnett said.

Garnett has received interest from the LA Clippers, but with KG's no-trade clause, the final call is on him.

“I bleed green, I die green. That’s what it is. When that crosses the path I will deal with it,” Garnett.

KG is 36 years old. Paul Pierce is 35. For the rest of the players, the average age of the Celtics is almost 30 years old. So when it trade rumors circle around, Doc Rivers believes the mind set is “been there, done that.”

“Fortunately for our guys, a lot of them are veterans. So, they’ve been through the drill. They know how it is,” Rivers said.

But sometimes trade rumors are just that: rumors.

“When I wake up in the morning and I hear a trade rumor that I haven’t heard in my office, that’s silly,” Rivers said.

But before talks become transactions, the Celtics remember who's currently signing their checks.

“I won’t comment on things that haven’t happened. This is what I am [a Boston Celtic] so don’t get that messed up,” Garnett said.
