FALMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) -- Aly Raisman, captain of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team has a great fan base in Falmouth! Her neighbors and supporters put together an Olympics watch party. To cheer her on they got balloons, a cake and they’ve even designed t-shirts and colored posters.
“We met the Raismans a few years ago and started to learn more about Aly and her Olympic dream and over the last few years as the Olympics were getting closer everyone starting catching ‘Aly fever’ and wanting to know more and more,” said neighbor Patty Cloherty.
Cloherty said that everyone with ‘Aly fever’ wanted to watch the competition and celebrate together. They weren’t the only ones eager to celebrate - Olympics spirit is as easy to catch as ‘Aly fever.’
“Even when we were ordering the cake from White’s Bakery, the owner called said ‘whoever ordered that cake, I want to donate it in the spirit of the Olympics!’ The company that we ordered the shirts from in Newton said they were all excited to help design it and do everything. Anyone who hears Aly’s name is all for the Olympics and the spirit,” said Cloherty,
The kids are excited for the show - and nobody has seen a spoiler or checked in online so that the watch party will be authentic.
“The kids are dying,” said Cloherty.
“We're hoping that she brings home a shiny gold medal.”
The kids have only one thing to say, “Go Aly! Bring home the gold!”
