Meet the Mom: Jeannie Yazell

Behind every athlete, are some proud family members and one of the proudest Thursday was the mother of judo gold medal winner, Kayla Harrison.

Her thoughts on her daughter, who’s now an Olympic champion:

"She’ll give it one 120 percent no matter what. She's very competitive; she has drive like nobody else I’ve ever seen."

"She’s very tenacious, she just doesn't give in. I don't give in very much either."

"The last time I actually went on the mat with her was the day that she arm barred and choked me out, and she said, 'you're not my mom on the mat!"

"I watch every competition, when she's overseas, I’m up in the middle of the night watching them, and I’m yelling at the screen because I know she can hear me."

"Just give your child as much support as you can. Love them as much as you can and know that you're the one that's closest to them, and there may be days they're gonna take it out on ya, that they're giving it the hardest that they can, and just be there for 'em."
