FOXBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- Tom Brady has signed a new deal with the New England Patriots that will likely make him a Patriot for life.

Brady, 35, agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract extension that will keep him at Patriot through the 2017, when he will be 40 years old.

The deal proves Brady is the ultimate team player. This deal will help the Patriots smooth out his salary and has cleared nearly $15 million from the team’s salary cap.

The deal is far below market value for Brady -- the three-time Super Bowl champion will make far less in those three seasons.

Brady’s salary will lower to about $13 million for the coming season. He was set to make $20 million.
