BOSTON (WHDH) -- The news of Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker’s departure came as a shock to many.
The Denver Broncos agreed to a two-year deal with Pro Bowl receiver Wes Welker Wednesday, to the dismay of most New England Patriots fans.
“He’s going to catch a zillion passes from Peyton Manning. He’s going to set all sorts of records. It’s going to be really tough to watch,” a fan said.
Many fans remember another former Patriot who left town to play with Peyton Manning in Indianapolis: Adam Vinatieri. The decision has fans questioning the motives of everyone involved.
“It’s heartbreaking. I am not sure what Bill is doing. Hopefully in Bill we trust but it’s really questionable. Two years $12 million when he made like nine and a half last year,” another fan said.
Not everyone, however, is sad to see him pack his bags for the mile high city.
“Bye, see ya later Wes butterfingers. We aren’t going to worry about you dropping no more good balls,” said Denise Campbell, a Patriots fan.
But other fans choose to remember the good times.
“It’s tough, I mean we got to thank him for his service and the championships but seeing him go to play with Peyton Manning that's just kind of heartbreaking,” said a fan.
