FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WHDH) -- He’s small and mighty, a jack-of-all-trades, but now Danny Woodhead is taking his talents to San Diego.
Woodhead has been a fan favorite in Foxborough and some fans aren’t happy he’s leaving.
“He’s a real spark plug for the [New England] Patriots and I’m real sorry to see him leave,” said Debbie Krupczak, a Patriots fan.
The announcement comes as Patriots fans are still trying to grasp the loss of Wes Welker.
“For me, this is a lot to get over. It seems like it was short changed as far as the difference between Amendola and Welker. So, yea, it’s going to be a long healing period if I ever get over it,” said Gene Balerna, a Patriots fan.
“He’s definitely been a wonderful player for the Patriots for several years and I think when it was time for him to get paid they said goodbye to him and that was disappointing to see,” said Debbie Krupczak.
Welker and Woodhead were not only fan favorites, but some of Brady’s favorite targets on the field.
“I just feel like there was a connection before and now you have to restart his connections all over again,” said Helen Malone, a Patriots fan.
Many fans are sticking to the mantra “In Bill we Trust,” while not easy to stomach they may be necessary moves to win another championship.
“It has to some disappointment by Tom [Brady] but that’s life in the NFL,” said Paul Krupczak, a Patriots fan.
