Wilfork speaks about diabetes at NH school
DERRY, N.H. (WHDH) -- Patriots lineman Vince Wilfork shared his story about how diabetes has affected his life at a middle school in Derry, New Hampshire on Tuesday.
The Pats lineman knows first-hand how devastating the disease can be; his father had diabetes, and eventually died in 2002 from it.
"That was probably one of the toughest times of my life. He meant everything to me,” Wilfork said. "Only thing we can do is keep pushing, keep lugging, and try and get a cure. And that's what we're going to do."
The assembly is part of the American Diabetes Association's 25th annual "Alert Day" which encourages people to take a test to find out if they're at risk of developing the disease.
