Patriots make dreams come true with Make-A-Wish
FOXBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- The Patriots make a lot of big plays on the field.
But some of their best don't always happen during a game.
Tom Brady and the team made wishes come true for some incredible kids.
Six Make-A-Wish kids saw their dreams come true - to not only meet, but play football with the Patriots.
"My wish is to meet Tom Brady."
Ten-year-old Richard Cookson - from Revere - had a smile on his face all day long - and so did his dad.
"We all haven't stopped smiling since we woke up this morning. It's great!"
The kids had no idea they'd not only be meeting some Patriots players but they'd also be spending the day just like they would.
They faced the media, in a press conference. They headed into the locker room with their own locker and jersey.
They got to meet with Robert Kraft.
"When you see these young people it really gives you perspective on everything,” Kraft said.
But the best part was actually meeting the players and throwing the ball on the field at Gillette stadium!
“You can't really put it into words. It’s amazing, it’s just great that people give back. It’s been a lot of downs - but a lot of ups like this especially from Children’s Hospital, Dana Farber, now Make-A-Wish. It’s just, the generosity is unbelievable,” said Cookson’s dad.
"A lot of these kids have had treatment for a very long time and some after today will be going back and having more treatment. It’s sort of a break in a long journey for them and I think it’s something they will be able to gain strength from,” said Julie Abel of Make-A-Wish.
They'll leave with memorabilia and memories to last a lifetime.
