10 'Super People' chosen by the Pats to go to Indy

FOXBORO, Mass. -- The Patriots gave back to ten ‘Super People,’ sending them to the Super Bowl because of the lives they touch on a daily basis.

Those 10 lucky fans were chosen out of a pool of approximately 10,000 people. One of the 10 chosen, Whitney Hartwell, didn’t even know she had been nominated.

Whitney Hartwell’s 7-year-old son, Timmy Hartwell, knew he was the envy of Pats fans everywhere.

“This is my first game, going to a Patriots game. And it’s the Super Bowl,” Timmy Hartwell said.

“Sharing this experience with my son, this is really a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Whitney Hartwell, a ‘Super People’ winner.

Whitney Hartwell, a middle school math teacher in Norfolk, won a one day, all expenses paid trip to the Super Bowl and after party.

“I got a voicemail today from Andre Tippett, a former Patriots player, letting me know I had won a sweepstakes that I didn’t even know I was entered in. So I thought the whole thing was a joke, I didn’t think it was serious,” Whitney Hartwell said.

Now, the Hartwells are getting ready to head to Indy.

“I still feel like it’s not real. I’ve never won anything before,” Whitney Hartwell said.

Whitney Hartwell won the tickets as part of the Patriots Foundation Celebration of Volunteers; a nod to the team owner’s widow, Myra Kraft, who had a passion for volunteerism.

“We’re not bringing in mega bucks every day and it’s not like people I work with are season ticket holders or things like that, so it was just so nice that they would pick people that are teachers and firefighters, and nurses to honor them. I’m so appreciative and I’m so humbled by this opportunity. This is amazing,” Whitney Hartwell said.

An added bonus: the Hartwells will be on the field at Gillette Stadium for Sunday’s Super Bowl sendoff. They will meet Patriots owner Robert Kraft as well.
