FOXBORO, Mass. -- Gisele Bundchen’s comments after the game may have been to defend her husband, Tom Brady, but some fans are saying they also hurt the team.

Gisele had just left the suite at Lucas Oil Stadium where she watched the Super Bowl when she was heckled by a New York Giants fan that yelled “Eli rules” and “Eli owns your husband.”

Gisele appeared to refer to the normally sure-handed receiver Wes Welker, who failed to catch a long pass in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game when she said, “He didn’t even catch the ball when he’s supposed to catch the ball. My husband cannot [expletive] throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time.”

Vince Wilfork’s wife was among the people standing with Gisele.

After the team arrived home from Indianapolis the Patriots locker room was like a ghost town. Aaron Hernandez packed up and put all of his belongings in a giant trash bag.

One player did talk about Gisele’s comment.

“You can’t point fingers at anybody,” said James Ihedigbo, Patriots safety. “You look across the board Wes made amazing plays all year long.”

"Comes to the biggest moment in my life, and don't come up with it. It's discouraging," said Welker at a post-game press conference.

Brady only had praise for Welker as his most trusted receivers.

"I keep throwing the ball to him for as long as I possibly can. He's a phenomenal player and teammate, and I love that guy," said Brady at a post-game press conference.

TMZ is saying that team sources are said some of Brady’s teammates feel betrayed by Gisele’s comments.
