Report: Patriots lock up Aaron Hernandez
FOXBORO, Mass. (NBC) -- The New England Patriots spent the offseason collecting tight ends, but the two that matter the most, they’re taking care of.
After previously signing Rob Gronkowski to a long-term deal, they’ve now reached agreement with Aaron Hernandez, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
For different reasons, other teams were scared of both when they were drafted, much lower than their talent alone would have indicated.
But having a quarterback like Tom Brady allows a team to take chances at times, and Gronkowski and Hernandez have rewarded the Patriots for their faith with their production on the field.
So now the Patriots have rewarded Gronkowski and Hernandez.
The numbers on this one will be interesting, because it had already been suggested that the higher wide receiver-level tag might have been in play if he was franchised.
