FOXBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski walked off the field with minutes left of a blow out game against the Colts -- and teammates say they didn't even find out he'd broken his arm until well after the game was over.

“[I found out from] my girlfriend,” said Aaron Hernandez.

Aaron Hernandez, the other star tight end also out with a sprained right ankle, says he was very concerned after hearing his teammate was injured.

“I definitely sent him a text. Everyone here’s hurt but especially him. I’m sure he’ll be alright and get back fast,” Hernandez said.

Gronkowski was having a huge game Sunday, then he was injured in the 4th quarter while out blocking on an extra point.

Players say while unfortunate, injuries are part of the game.

“It’s football. Playing football for four quarters and that’s the way things go. You can’t really second guess anything,” said Rob Ninkovich.

Gronkowski might be out for a few games, but teammates and fans say don't count out Patriots deep bench.

“Everyone has to step up. We're missing a great player so everyone has to step up that much more,” Hernandez said.
