Red Sox, fans react to Jared Remy charges
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Red Sox representatives spoke out after the murder charge against Jerry Remy’s son.
“Terrible, terrible incident…terrible. I feel bad for all of the Remy’s, I feel bad for the woman that was murdered, and just a bad scene for everybody,” said Red Sox fan, Tom Sullivan.
Red Sox manager, John Farrell made a brief comment at his 4:00 press conference Friday.
“It’s an ongoing investigation. Our thoughts, our prayers and our sympathies are with the Martel family. Other than that, that’s kind of where it stays,” he said.
New England Sports Network, the company Jerry Remy works for as a color commentator during Sox games, issued a statement that read, “This morning, we learned for a terrible tragedy. All of us at NESN and the Red Sox, along with Jerry Remy, are filled with grief for everyone involved, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Jennifer Martel.”
Many Red Sox fans offered their deepest sympathies to the family of Martel and Jerry Remy.
“Really tragic. It’s hard to put in words what I’m sure he’s going through. It’s bad that people turn that way,” said Red Sox fan, John Lowery.
“I was a fan, clear back when he played 2nd base for the Red Sox. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family,” said Sox fan, Layton Cottrell.
Jerry Remy did not broadcast Friday night’s Red Sox game. There is no word on when he will return.
