Sox fans 'It's got to be the beards' after ALDS win
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Red Sox fans are fired up after the team took three of four games against the Tampa Bay Rays and moved on to the American League Championship series.
“We're going to rock out, we’re going to take it all,” Sox fan Don Filippi said.
The game, which lasted past midnight, ended with a final score of 3-1.
“I'm exhausted actually; it was a very tense game,” Sox fan Rob Kelley said,
Fans have several different reasons for why the Sox showed such an improvement over last year, but one seems to be the most prominent.
“I think the managerial change to John Farrell was probably the biggest thing that’s impacted their club,” Sox fan Joe Costello said.
Other fans said the team looks like it clicks, similar to the World Series championship team in 2004.
“They kind of are the same as the '04 team, with the characters they have on the team and how they kind of grind out bats and get wins that nobody thinks they’d win,” Sox fan Ian Stern said.
Still, some fans say the facial hair is what gave the team the leg up.
“It’s the beards. Got to be the beards. The beards along. They get along up down that's what's makes a team,” Sox fan Dana Medeiros said.
Even after the team’s losing season in 2012, fans never lost hope.
“I had all the confidence in the world they'd come back and turn it around for sure,” one fan said.
