Sox fans excited for matchups vs. former players
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Red Sox won’t know their ALCS opponent until after the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics finish their game late Thursday night, but they can already prepare to face some familiar players.
The Athletics have been referred to as Boston west; Jed Lowrie, Josh Reddick, Coco Crisp and Brandon Moss are all current Oakland players that played for the Sox.
"We love Coco Crisp, he was a big part of the championship run many years ago. So there’s still a lot of love for Coco and all those guys, Lowrie and everybody. Certainly we want them to do well, except in the next series obviously,” Sox fan Bill Porter said.
Then there are the tigers; a team that traded starting pitcher Jake Peavy to the Sox in a deal that saw Boston giving away shortstop Jose Iglesias.
"It was a good trade; it was just heartbreaking for the kid. I think he wanted to be here,” Sox fan Tim Desrochers said.
Some fans don’t care who we play, they just want the Sox to win and prove they made the right choices.
"It would be nice to have them, and it would be good to play them so that way we can beat them and make them wish they were here,” Sox fan Dan Powers said.
