Sox rally behind David Ortiz's grand slam
DETROIT (WHDH) -- Some people call it clutch, other people call it skill; for Red Sox outfielder Jonny Gomes it’s just called David Ortiz.
"Probably not another guy on the planet that I’d want in the box. Some people crumble under pressure when there’s a lot on line some people crumble. Some people don’t want to take the last shot, some people pass, some people do, some people can’t handle the failure of the big moment,” Gomes said.
Ortiz is not one of those people. He, along with the rest of the Red Sox organization, is embracing the situation.
"Good things happen after momentum but you come in here with an off day you wish were playing today a little bit because of what happened last night. Maybe they’re down, but they get an off day and time to regroup,” Sox catcher David Ross said.
