How well do you know the St. Louis Cardinals
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Sox are only days away from facing the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, but how much do Sox fans really know about the championship opponent?
“They fly under the radar; they play in the Middle of the country. They’re National League, we just don’t follow them a lot. The Dodgers are a sexier team, the Cardinals are just kind of ho-hum but they get the job done,” Sox fan Tim Pettit said.
At the top of the Cardinals on-field organization is their manager Mike Matheny who played against the Sox in the 2004 World Series as the Cardinals catcher.
“We’ve still got a long way to go. We’ve got one more step and it’s a big one,” Matheny said.
On the rubber for the Cardinals will be rookie starter Michael Wacha and the team’s number one starter Adam Wainwright who won 19 regular season games.
Other notable players include right fielder Carlos Beltran and catcher Yadier Molina.
