Sox merchandise flying off shelves at area stores
BOSTON (WHDH) -- As the players prepare for World Series game 1 in the locker room and on the field, fans are preparing by visiting their local sports stores.
The World Series is important for many fans, but the series holds an extra special meaning for Melissa Tolmie.
Tolmie’s father, a Quincy resident, had stopped shaving for the Sox playoff run but he died suddenly before he could see the World Series.
“He was really, really excited and actually one of the last text messages that he sent to me he said ‘it’s a great day, the Red Sox won,’” Tolmie said.
Some of the more popular items are related to the Sox players’ beards and items that feature both the Sox and Cardinals logos.
“I actually had one woman complaining to me that my Cardinals hats are not out yet. I’m trying to work at the pace I can, but with only two hands we had to prioritize,” store manager Brian Maurer said.
