St. Louis players prepare for Fenway, the Sox
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals have a lot in common, each team has one player remaining from when they faced off in the 2004 World Series, each team had 97 regular season wins and both teams want to win.
"When it comes down to the World Series, you have the best team in the NL, which I think we were, and the best team in the AL, which obviously, I think Boston was," Cardinals third baseman David Freese said.
The Sox and Cardinals haven’t faced each other since interleague play in 2008, and on Monday the Cardinals took batting practice at Fenway Park to familiarize themselves with the stadium.
"It's fun to be a part of this history. To be here, in the Fenway Park, to be part of this series against Boston, we know that both organizations are doing a good job, but its fun to be a part of," Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina said.
There is one difference between the teams that Freese pointed out.
"Boston has the beards, and they're emotional, and they're great, and maybe we can't grow beards like them, but we're just as emotional. We're excited, and it's going to be an extremely great series," he said.
